Key dates for Reception Applications
If you have legal parental responsibility for a child born between 01 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 you can now apply for a school place in a reception class to start in September 2025.
11th November 2024 Applications open
13th January 2025 Applications close
28th February 2025 Application checks completed by admissions team and ready to be ranked by schools
21st March 2025 Rankings close. All rankings MUST to be added by this date.
7th April 2025 Final offers completed. You will be able to see who will be offered a place with you.
16th April 2025 National Offer Day – parents informed via email and portal of their application outcome.
* All families are also advised to apply for at least 5 other schools within the Local Authority in addition to applying for placement at St Mellons.
ON LINE APPLICATION SERVICE
The on line application service will be available at www.cardiff.gov.uk/primaryadmissions from Monday 11 November 2024. Online is the preferred method for applying for school places and provides the swiftest communication to parents on offer day. Details of how parents can receive support with their application is included in the attached information.
As a school we are also able to support families in completing an application online. Assistance will also be available at Council advice hubs.
