Summer Term 2019

Our current value is 'wisdom'.

This is a very busy term for Class 4.

We went to London on our residential trip...  photos coming soon.

Our WNO performance in the Millennium Centre will be in June, so lots of rehearsals are taking place.

After half term we will be having Swimming lessons every afternoon for 2 weeks.

Please check the calendar for Leavers Service dates.

Our topic is 'Out of this World'

Our class novel this term is Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce.

We are creating a Solar System display in the classroom.  We used ink marbling to create images of the planets,  we worked collaboratively online to produce informative Sway presentations about one of the planets.

Summer Half Term Homework

Spring Term 2019

Our value this half term is 'Peace'.

Most of our curriculum will be linked to our spring topic -

World War II

  • In English we are reading Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll and Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian.  We will be writing diary entries, letters and discussion texts.
  • In Maths we will cover multiplication of fractions and decimals, area and negative numbers.  We will apply these skills across the humanties, for example  through learning about rationing and designing and making an Anderson Shelter.
  • In science we are learning about light, how we see and will plan & conduct experiments to discover the best torch.
  • Children will be learning about 1st Centry Palestine; Roman occupation; groups in Judaism; Jesus' contemporaries and the resurrection during RE.
  • In our creative lessons we will make propaganda posters, design an build an Anderson Shelter and learning some popular war time songs.
  • Our focus is on 'fitness' during PE - we will participate in circuit training and build stamina in distance running.
  • Digital technology will be incorporated throughout the curriculum. We will also discuss the importance of strong passwords.
