The Eco Committee at St Mellons C/W Primary School
At St Mellons C/W Primary School we have an Eco Committee in place to help the school achieve the Eco School awards. The Eco Committee meet at least once every half term to discuss how to make the school more sustainable. We use Google Classroom to write our agenda and minutes so we are as paperless as we can be.
Eco Committee 2018/19
Our Eco Code 2018/19
"St Mellons Eco Committee - making Cardiff a greener city"
Eco schools is a programme that encourages us to care for our school environment by becoming aware of sustainable development issues. These include Litter, Waste Minimisation, Transport, Healthy Living, Energy, Water, School Grounds and Global Citizenship.
What does sustainable development mean?
Sustainable development means meeting the needs of today’s people without affecting the needs of future generations. We can be sustainable and environmentally aware by making sure we don simple things like turning off our televisions and computers rather than leaving them on standby.
The Awards
The first two levels of the Eco-Schools award are the Bronze and Silver certificates. The top level of award is the Eco-Schools Green Flag. We are aiming to achieve the GREEN FLAG AWARD this year.
